On 13th-14th October 2023 the Department of Philosophy of Boston University will host the International Conference “How does Spirit relate to Nature? Hegelian perspectives”, organized by Giulia Battistoni, Paolo Degiorgi and Caroline Wall.
Speakers and talks will be:
Allen Speight (Boston University), Hegel and the Philosophy of Culture
Angelica Nuzzo (CUNY Graduate Center), Spirit as the ‘Other to Nature’
Elisa Magrì (Boston College), “A contradiction within reason”: the intentionality of feeling and the precariousness of self in Hegel’s Anthropology
Klaus Vieweg (Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena), Care and Forethought – Hegel on Sustainability
Giulia Battistoni (University of Verona/Boston University), Spirit’s relation to Nature: from Hegel and beyond
As a part of the conference, there will be the presentation of the discovery of the Carové manuscripts (1816-1818) about Hegel’s lectures in Heidelberg, welcome by major international newspapers as the discovery of the century.
The conference is co-funded by the Department of Philosophy of Boston University and by the European Commission (Marie Skłodowska-Curie; Grant agreement No 101064728 Project ReNa) and will be held in person and remotely.
